South Beach
We are getting married in Coconut Grove which is about 30 minutes south of South Beach.  We are staying in South Beach to go out for the rest of the weekend.  South Beach is the “party” place and touristy.  There is the beach, really cool hotels, pools, and boardwalk along the beach. Stay in South Beach if you want to shop, go out to the parties or be at a cool Miami style hotel.

Coconut Grove
Coconut Grove is south of Miami and is actually the first city to develop in all of south Florida.  It is very nice area with a lot of green, nice houses.  It is like La Jolla or Hamptons.  There is a cute downtown with shops and some restaurants.  You can drive across bridge out to Key Biscayne to go to the beach.  If you want more of a relaxing very nice area, Coconut Grove is a good spot.

Downtown Miami / Wynwood
Downtown Miami, especially the neighborhood of Wynwood and the Design District area is less touristy and kinda like the Brooklyn of Miami.  Like Brooklyn it has a bit of that grunge, but cool local culture.  Cheaper hotel options but not right on the beach.  There a lot of the newer cool restaurants, cafes, and clubs in this area.

We are staying at the Royal Palm in South Beach Miami.

Delano
Classic Miami hotel, cool pool, on the beach.

AirBnB Rentals
There are great places and deals on AirBnB.  Look up the hotels above in the area here and find what you like.  This option is highly recommended for good deal.

Gale Hotel
Small boutique hotel not on beach but on same street.  Rooftop & small pool.

Marriott Vacation Club Pulse
A bit farther away from the rest of the hotels listed in South Beach, nice, on the beach, and very affordable at $125/night.  No pool.

The Standard
The Standard in Miami is really cool hotel set on little fake island near South Beach.  It is not near the other hotels listed.  It’s almost like a spa hotel.  So a quieter more peaceful vibe. Their spa service menu is phenomenal.

Sonesta Coconut Grove
If you want to stay at a nice hotel in Coconut Grove, this is the only one we know of.  Roof pool is nice.  You will be driving to the beach if in Coconut Grove.  $299/night.
